Amanda reads 30 books
Carol May, a second grade teacher at St. Boniface School, recommended that 7-year old Amanda attend the Center since it had helped her brother. When she started being tutored, Amanda was reluctant to read independently.

Now Amanda reads more readily in her free time. Last spring she read and was tested on 30 books in her Accelerated Reading class. In addition, her study habits and classroom work have improved.

"She's not afraid to try," says May. "Thank you for helping her!"

Volunteer tutors honored
Seven area residents were honored for long-term service at our third annual Appreciation Dinner on May 21. They are: Joanne and Russ Cordaro, Chili; Jack Fawkes, Rochester; Maria Infantino, Greece; Jim Nobes, Penfield; Joe Ragusa, Webster; and Larry Steehler, Irondequoit.

In the News
The Catholic Courier featured Sister Lorraine in an article on sisters in education in August. "You get nowhere in life if you don't have an education," she said [download the article].
